The Historic Michabelle Inn: A Charming Southern Getaway
Tucked away under the shade of an oak tree, sits the Historic Michabelle Inn. This sweet bed and breakfast, nestled in a neighborhood just outside of downtown Hammond, LA, is a charming place, full of history and quirky character (themed rooms and all!), making it a fun stop on your Southern travel list. This “Little Inn”, as the cute front sign welcoming guests calls it, graciously hosted myself and my family for an evening stay and our experience was delightful!
The Inn: On the National Registry of Historic Buildings, the Michabelle Inn is family owned and operated for 3 generations. The grounds feature the beautiful main house, a gorgeous water fountain, the Creole Cottage, and an event space perfect for a wedding reception.
If you are looking for a more traditional experience, there are 4 rooms in the main house, each decorated with antiques collected by the family over the years. The rooms are located on the second floor and some have balcony access. Link for a look inside the rooms below.
The Town: The Michabelle Inn is located in Hammond, Louisiana. It’s about an hour drive from New Orleans. This college town (home to Southeastern University) includes several blocks of restaurants, bars, unique shops and even a theater. The Inn is about a 2 minute drive to downtown and it is an adorable place to check out during your stay.
The Breakfast at Michabelle Inn: We wrapped up our weekend getaway at the Michabelle Inn with a tasty breakfast inside the main house. Rooms include complimentary breakfast for two!Thank you so much for checking out our wonderful stay at the historic Michabelle Inn. With it’s history and charm, and sweet country feel, it is the perfect spot for a romantic getaway or a fun stay with your family! Ask for David, the owner, when you are there…I’m sure he would love to give you a tour!
