2nd Trimester: Things I Bought (and use often)
Once I reached the 2nd trimester, my pregnancy started to feel real. My baby bump started to show, my fatigue went away and I had more energy, and we were finally able to announce the pregnancy to friends and family.
With the second trimester also came swelling, more weight gain, and heartburn. Oh, the joys of pregnancy!
Here’s a list of items that helped me through the 2nd trimester:
SILICONE WEDDING BANDS: Around week 18 or so, I was at a cross roads with my wedding ring: It was feeling tight on my finger and time to decide if I should keep it stuck on my finger for 5 more months or take it off now. I didn’t want to go without a ring for sentimental reasons, so I found a great compromise: silicone stretchy wedding bands! I ordered a pack of 4 for under $15 and they are great. I can switch out the colors depending on my OOTD. While they don’t hold a candle to my real diamond ring, they are perfect place-holders until the swelling goes away and certainly more comfortable as I waddle my way through pregnancy (and comfort is key!). MATERNITY UNDERWEAR: Bye-bye thongs (for now)! I hate panty lines but when it comes to being pregnant, sometimes vanity has to take a back seat to comfort. I ordered these pregnancy panties online and so thankful I did!! They fit great and cover all the right places. They don’t cut off your circulation and they hug just under your bump perfectly, while giving you full “crack coverage” in the rear. Ha! Do yourself a favor, and put away your sexy thongs and finish out your pregnancy in these little numbers: Buy here
BUMP SUPPORT SLIP: Continuing with under garments, I find this slip to add great support under my dresses. It’s not too tight but still smoothes out added bulge that might be setting up camp on your pregnant body. It was recommended to me by a friend, and now I’m recommending to you! Buy here
FETAL HEARTBEAT MONITOR: For me, nothing is more thrilling than hearing your baby’s heartbeat. I bought a B’jingles heartbeat monitor, and it allows me to do just that! I don’t recommend getting this until you are at least 16 weeks pregnant though. I made the mistake and got one way too early (at 9 weeks) and I couldn’t find my baby’s heartbeat for weeks and that sent me into a panic! The fetus is still so small in the first trimester, it’s hard to pick up the heartbeat any earlier than 16 weeks or so. It’s neat once you can hear the heartbeat and a fun bonding experience with your partner as well (it has two outlets for headphones so you can listen together). I make Lon try to find it to get him involved. I only use it once a week as a sweet little check in and it melts my heart every time! Buy here
I need to add that I was not paid in any way to promote these items. They are simply things I bought and use on a regular basis so I wanted to pass along. With that said, I made a lot of silly purchases too…more on that in a later blog post!

I should have bought the belly support garment months ago! I do Zumba often and I find myself holding my belly up with my hand. Now that I’ve only got a couple months left, my frugalness is telling me I don’t “need” it. My husband thinks I should get it anyway so maybe I will. I’m just ready for baby to get here!

I feel ya! I say get it because if you can feel more comfortable, even for only a couple months (which is a long time in pregnancy months!), it’s worth every penny! I have 8 weeks to go and I just bought a wedge pillow to try to help with my sleep! Congrats and we’ve got this!!
