Let it Snow (Globe)! My Collection on Display for the Holidays
/
There’s something I find so magical about a snow globe. It’s like taking a glimpse into this beautiful, perfectly painted little world where every year it is a white Christmas. I started collecting snow globes 20 years ago when I visited New York City. It was snowy wintry day and the first thing I saw when I walked into Saks Fifth Avenue department store was a beautiful display of snow globes. I felt it was meant to be…I bought one. And have been collecting them ever since!
I bring my snow globes out of storage and display them as part of my Christmas decorations. It such a magical display. Each snow globe has meaning to me as it is of a city I lived or worked in. Enjoy!
It all started with this snow globe of NYC! I got it at Saks Fifth Avenue during a snowy shopping trip to the city. And I started collecting snow globes ever since!
Lincoln, Nebraska…the city my husband and I first met. We worked there at the ABC affiliate, me as a reporter and Lon as sports anchor.
St, Louis, MO. A stop on our drive back to Omaha from our wedding in Georgia. The plane inside this snow globe moves around when you play the music.
New Orleans, LA. The place I call home! The snow is glitter in this globe though…it never snows here!
Boston, MA. My husband;s hometown and the city where my sister and brother-in-law now live.
Atlanta, GA. My hometown city. I grew up an hour north of Atlanta but went to school there (GSU alumni) and lived and worked there for 6 years.
Williamsburg, VA …my grandmother’s favorite city in the world!
My snow globe collection on display for Christmas…surrounded by fake snow to make it even more magical.
