Oak Alley Plantation: A Majestic Southern Beauty
Oak Alley Plantation is jaw-droppingly gorgeous. Set on land that was established to grow sugarcane in the 1800s, Oak Alley is the epitome of what people may think of when they think Southern plantation homes. With 28 giant oak trees planted in the early 18th century lining a brick walkway to the gorgeous “Big House”, a Greek Revival mansion, exploring this magnificent Southern masterpiece is worth the drive (about an hour from New Orleans).
Side note: Oak Alley has served as the backdrop of many movies and tv shows including Interview with a Vampire, Days of our Lives, and Bayonce’s “Deja Vu” music video and “B-Day CD” insert photos!
A look inside “The Big House”:
Oak Alley also has a restaurant, gift shop, and Inn, so you can stay the day or a few days!

Oak Alley is a ‘must see’ if your visiting New Orleans. I loved spending the afternoon there touring the mansion and enjoying the grounds!

When you come back next time we will have to visit another plantation with Kennedy if it’s not too hot!

Love this place! Visited many years ago. I only recently read that the trees were planted well before any buildings were constructed, so someone had a grand vision well in advance!
